Scholarships

  "Each One, Reach One!"

The Midland Chapter of IAAP® is committed to continuing education. Throughout our history, we have been able to offer financial assistance to full-time students as well as high school seniors planning to enter college in the Fall and are proud to be affiliated with three different scholarships.

We feel privileged to work with Northwood University and the Midland Community Foundation to advance the vision of two former members who were passionate about education, their profession, and community.

Dorothy R. Bell Memorial Scholarship
(Northwood University)

The Dorothy R. Bell scholarship was established in October 1977 and is awarded to a Northwood University student pursuing a career in business. Dorothy was a secretary at The Dow Chemical Company and a charter member of the Midland Chapter who contributed leadership, guidance and inspiration not only to chapter members, but to countless others with whom she came in contact with during her business career. Dorothy was also a Northwood student. And so it was appropriate for the chapter to establish a scholarship in her memory. This is a $500 scholarship.

Sharon J. Tomczak Scholarship
(Midland Foundation)

A $750 scholarship in the name of Sharon J. Tomczak is administered through the Midland Foundation. Shary, to her friends, spent her career as an administrative assistant at Dow Chemical. Upon her unexpected death at an early age in May 1989, the Midland Chapter established this scholarship in her name.

Excellence In Education

A core value of the Midland Chapter IAAP® is to support educators in their development of students pursuing careers in the business field. This award honors a business teacher in the counties of Bay, Clare, Gladwin, Isabella, Midland and Saginaw who makes significant and creative contributions to the education and career decisions of their students.

CPS/CAP Examination

Are you interested in attaining your CPS/CAP rating?  If so, the Midland Chapter is offering a scholarship for any active member interested in taking the exam for CPS/CAP Certification.

The CPS examination is a three-part exam, covering the ares of office technology, office systems and administration, and management. It is administered twice a year and requires recertification every five years.
